Pre-design

Master-Planning

Develop a graphic “map” for your project. This will ensure phasing is a success if you choose to build your project in stages.

Schematic Design

Express the design using a variety of tools including pencil drawings, CAD drawings and models to explore possibilities.

Design Development

Develop the approved Schematic Design solution into more detail. This set of drawings is often used for a permit submittal.

Construction Documents (Drawings and Specifications)

Enhance the Design Development documents with drawings, notes and written specifications to communicate the design to the construction team.

Permitting

Assist the Owner with procuring permits. The firm is fluent with permitting requirements in all local jurisdictions.

Construction Administration

Active involvement during construction including on-site observation, coordination with the construction team, meeting minutes, review of shop drawings, but most importantly functioning as your advocate.

  • Color consulting: Exterior and Interior color palette advice; Helen’s tried and true favorites 
  • Lighting Design: Incorporate light fixtures from exterior to general interior, to indirect, task, display, under-cabinet and vanity.
  • Site Design: Creates sensitive relationships between buildings and their context. Organizes circulation. Connects the interior with outdoor living spaces, surrounding grounds and views. 
  • Lighting Plan: Depicts location and type of light fixtures and their controls.
  • Power and Data Plan: Depicts location and type of low-voltage devices.
  • Green Design: Helen sets sustainability goals with every client, focusing on appropriate solutions for each project. Designing above code minimum is recommended. Geothermal has been employed in several of Helen’s projects. Built-Green and Passive Haus are energy efficient ways of building. With a forward-thinking approach to maintenance and life-cycle costs, Helen will assist you with making informed decisions about building systems as well as durable, lasting, non-toxic materials and products.
