Helen Hald, AIA, Principal
Helen is a native of Berkeley, California, where she was steeped in the Bay Region tradition of Architecture. She is a first generation American, born to a father from New Zealand who was an architect and  a mother from Scotland who was a french scholar, teacher and translator. Helen loved to draw and paint from an early age and began pre-college art classes at the California College of the Arts while she was in Junior High School. As an au pair in Paris, during her freshman college summer, a weekend journey to Notre Dame du Haut in Ronchamp was her first experience with the work of Le Corbusier. This was the beginning of a life long love affair with modern architecture!  She was as a docent, giving architectural tours, at Frank Lloyd Wright's Hollyhock house in the Hollywood hills. She earned her Bachelor of Architecture at California State Polytechnic University at Pomona, culminating the five year program with a year of study in Florence, Italy.
